My only wish with regard to name changes would be that when purchasing a toon, you'd be permitted to redo the toon's identity...god knows if I took on a new body, I'd probably want a nose job and a new name so I didn't get shot for the crimes of the previous inhabiting soul.

Yeah well that goes out of the window if you'd buy your self.
The value of that which pretty nil anyway tbfh...since you can right now still sell your existing toon (would fetch a higher price if it was notorious for something) and buy another toon of equal value as it is, if it comes down to needing to change identity...tell me you realize this?

Techinical reason for no name change, lots of stuff pulls off that name. CCP to change a name would have to scrub the database top to bottom to break old links and make new ones. You have 10 contracts up and 200 market orders....each one has to be fixed with the new name. Or else you may not get paid from sales and overtime the database goes to crap with so many orphaned entities inside of it.
Case by case basis they could maybe do this. Problem is 1 becomes 100 becomes 1000. each change is a database scrub and consistency check. Time consuming process. Worth doing because some idiot thought eyeamghey be a cool name? Hell no.
Problem: outstanding transactions
Solution: "WARNING! ALL OUTSTANDING TRANSACTIONS WILL BE CANCELLED!"
